GIS Emergency Management for the University of Redlands

In times of crisis, the President and other senior officials at the University of Redlands have the primary responsibility for effectively managing any emergency that might occur on or affect the UoR campus. To assist the University, a customized GIS application was developed enabling a temporal based analysis of a disaster occurrence with concentrations of campus populations identified down to the room level. The GIS Emergency Management System (GEMS) application is an interactive system to be utilized in the Emergency Operation Center to direct the response. If a disaster were to occur, the response and recovery efforts could be initially focused to the most critical areas with the largest concentrations of people.
